Iconic Landmarks

When it comes to iconic landmarks, the USA has an abundance of them that are sure to take your breath away. Here are three must-see landmarks that should be on every traveler's bucket list:

Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty is an iconic symbol of freedom and democracy. It is located in New York Harbor and was gifted to the United States by France in 1886. The statue is made of copper and stands 305 feet tall.

To get to Lady Liberty, you will need to take a ferry to Liberty Island to see the statue up close. Once on the island, you can even try to get tickets to climb to the top of the pedestal for stunning views of the city skyline.

A breathtaking view from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, with its vast and intricate network of red rock formations and deep gorges under a clear sky.

Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is a natural wonder over 277 miles long and 18 miles wide. It is located in Arizona and is one of the most visited national parks in the country and is a World Heritage Site (you could make a bucket list of these 25+ sites across the US or expand your list to across the globe for 1000+ more sites).

The canyon offers breathtaking views of colorful rock formations and the Colorado River below. You can hike, bike, or take a helicopter tour to experience the beauty of the Grand Canyon National Park.

The South Rim is the most popular side to visit.

Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore is a national monument in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It features the faces of four US presidents carved into the granite mountain: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

The faces are each 60 feet tall and attract millions of visitors annually. Park Rangers offer different talks throughout the day so you can learn about the monument's history and significance.

Cultural Experiences

You are in luck if you are looking for cultural experiences in the USA. The country is home to a diverse range of cultures, each with its unique traditions and customs. Here are a few must-see cultural experiences to add to your bucket list:

Broadway Shows

Broadway shows are a quintessential part of American culture. Catching a show in New York City's Theater District is a must-do for any culture lover.

The scene captures a typical day in the bustling Broadway area.

Mardi Gras Festival

Mardi Gras is a festival celebrated in many parts of the world, but it is perhaps most famous in New Orleans, Louisiana. The festival is known for its colorful parades, lively music, and elaborate costumes.

If you want to experience the true spirit of Mardi Gras, head to New Orleans during the festival season, which typically runs from late February to early March.

Native American Reservations

The USA is home to many Native American tribes with unique traditions and customs.

Visiting a Native American reservation can be a great way to learn more about these cultures and gain a deeper appreciation for their history and way of life.

Some popular reservations to visit include the Navajo Nation in Arizona and New Mexico, the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma, and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North and South Dakota.

Natural Wonders

The United States is home to some of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders in the world.

These breathtaking landscapes, from the majestic Niagara Falls to the diverse wildlife of Yellowstone National Park and the stunning Great Smoky Mountains, will leave you in awe and inspire your next adventure.

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is a breathtaking sight. Located on the border of New York and Canada, this natural wonder comprises three waterfalls: Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls.

With over 3,160 tons of water flowing over the falls every second, Niagara Falls is a must-see for anyone visiting the United States. I prefer the Canadian side, but the US side is also worth visiting!

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is a natural wonder unlike any other. Located primarily in Wyoming, it is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including grizzly bears, wolves, and bison herds.

The park is also home to the famous Old Faithful geyser, which erupts every 90 minutes. It is a nature lover's paradise with over 2.2 million acres of land to explore.

Don't be surprised if you end up in a traffic jam with a bison herd! Remember to stay on the trails at this park and give the wildlife plenty of space.

Great Smoky Mountains

The Great Smoky Mountains, located on the border of Tennessee and North Carolina, is a natural wonder worth visiting—there is a reason why it's the most visited National Park.

The mountains are home to a diverse range of plant and animal species, including black bears, elk, and over 1,600 species of wildflowers. Go in the spring for the Wildflower Pilgrimage!

The park is also home to Clingmans Dome, the highest point in the park, and provides stunning views of the surrounding area.

The hike to Clingmans Dome is no joke – luckily, there are benches along the way if you need to catch your breath!

A coast-to-coast road trip is a quintessential American experience that should be on every traveler's bucket list.

The United States is home to some of the world's most scenic and iconic drives, offering endless opportunities for adventure and discovery.

Route 66

Route 66 is the most famous road trip in the United States, spanning over 2,400 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica.

This historic highway passes through eight states and offers a glimpse into the country's past with neon signs, vintage motels, and roadside attractions.

You can stop at iconic landmarks such as the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, and the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

A statue of a man with a guitar stands on the corner, contributing to the nostalgic and historic atmosphere of the location.

Pacific Coast Highway

The Pacific Coast Highway, also known as Highway 1, is a breathtakingly beautiful drive along the California coast from San Francisco to San Diego.

This scenic route passes through charming coastal towns, rugged cliffs, and stunning beaches. Highlights include the Golden Gate Bridge, Big Sur, and the Santa Monica Pier.

Coachella Music Festival

Coachella should be on your radar if you're a music fan. This annual festival takes place in Indio, California, and features some of the biggest names in music.

The lineup is always diverse and exciting, from rock to pop to hip-hop. In addition to the music, there are also art installations, food vendors, and other activities to enjoy.

Kentucky Derby

The Kentucky Derby is a must-attend event for anyone interested in experiencing the grandeur of American traditions.

Held annually on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs in Louisville, this “Run for the Roses” is the most famous horse race in the country.

The Derby is not just about the race itself; it's a celebration of Southern culture, with traditions like mint juleps, elaborate hats, and festive parties that make the event unforgettable.

The Kentucky Derby was one of the most fun things I've experienced! I plan to go again one day, but in the meantime, I host a Kentucky Derby Party and share the excitement with family and friends!

In other words, if you can't make it there, host a viewing party, complete with mint juleps and fancy hats!

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

For a unique experience, head to New Mexico for the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. This festival features hundreds of hot air balloons taking to the sky at once. It's a breathtaking sight that you won't soon forget.
